Project Officer HepLink NSW
This is a great opportunity to grow and implement a program utilising testing and care pathway initiatives for people living with, or at risk of, hepatitis C.
As the Project Officer of this new innovative program, you will:
- Develop, plan, deliver, monitor and review HepLink NSW projects and activities.
- Establish strong and diverse relationships with partners who can provide access to hepatitis C DBS testing sites.
- Plan and deliver testing activities in key settings, including organising the provision of peer-led point-of-care blood testing in identified sites.
- Contact, via phone, HepLink NSW project participants diagnosed with hepatitis C to establish rapport to assist with their treatment pathways and ensure continuity of care.
- Utilise the HNSW online Services Directory to develop referral links and pathways to assist clients with addressing hepatitis issues.
- Liaise with, and identify new, service providers to ensure the accuracy, currency and relevance of the Hepatitis NSW online Service Directory through ongoing maintenance, enhancement and updates.
- Develop and maintain data collection and evaluation processes, systems and mechanisms to ensure compliance, reporting and achievement of key performance measures for the projects.
The Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to develop and support the implementation and delivery in the community of peer led Dried Blood Spot (DBS) testing, along with linkage to hepatitis C treatment and care. This work aims to reduce the personal and social impact, and the incidence and transmission of, hepatitis C through community-based testing, linkage to treatment and care.
The Project Officer is also responsible for maintaining, enhancing and updating the Hepatitis NSW online Service Directory.
The position does not include a case management role.
You will be part of the Community Support and Engagement team developing, growing and delivering innovative and practical people focused programs to support the elimination of viral hepatitis in NSW by 2028.
HepLink Program:
HepLink Australia is a Commonwealth Department of Health funded initiative managed by Hepatitis Australia through a collective governance agreement, and in partnership with, member organisations. The HepLink Australia program provides confidential, free and localised viral hepatitis information and support services. HepLink Australia incorporates a range of services including information, supportive brief interventions, peer support, referral and linkage, individual advocacy and workforce support.
Hepatitis NSW is the NSW service delivery partner for HepLink Australia. The HepLink NSW project ultimately aims to address issues related to hepatitis C care pathways.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a drive to support the health and wellbeing of people living with, or at risk of, hepatitis C with a particular focus on community engagement.
- Has an understanding and commitment to working from a strength based and empowerment approach to community engagement and care pathways.
- Has an interest and commitment to building and enhancing Hepatitis NSW’s partnerships with community groups and organisations, Local Health Districts, clinical workers, and government agencies that focus on the health and wellbeing of people affected by viral hepatitis.

Salary: $88,480 per annum (including super and annual leave loading)
Hours: Full-time, 5-days a week (70 hours per fortnight)
