Head of Strategy and Operational Sustainability
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organisation with a mission to accompany, serve and advocate for the rights of refugees, people seeking asylum and migrants in situations of vulnerability. JRS works in situations of greatest need, where there are gaps in services and where partnerships can be formed. JRS values diversity and inclusion.
JRS Australia seeks a dynamic senior professional to join its senior leadership team as Head of Strategy and Operational Sustainability.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for operationalising our long-term strategic plan, with a focus on ensuring financial stability and sustainability and operational efficiency. Working closely with our finance team and other members of the senior leadership team, you will develop and implement strategies to stabilise, diversify and in time scale revenue streams. You will have a key risk management role, including financial, operational, work health safety and well-being, and cyber-security. You will support the Country Director and others in the senior leadership team to develop and maintain values-driven partnerships, cultivating long-term collaborations that build on existing relationships with our loyal support base of donors and volunteers.
Reporting to the Country Director and working closely with other members of the senior leadership team and Board, the Head of Strategy and Operational Sustainability will play a key role in enhancing JRS Australia’s operational sustainability and impact. You will lead a small, energetic team of dedicated staff, supported by volunteers and consultants.
Our ideal candidate is a highly-motivated, results-oriented strategic thinker, with the ability to align operational actions with long-term objectives. You are a strong, adaptable and empathetic leader and team player with a genuine commitment to continuous improvement and well-being. You are financially savvy, and can work collaboratively to manage budgets effectively, reduce costs, and identify alternative funding sources. You are also a confident and persuasive communicator, skilled in building relationships that strengthen organisational capacity.
The position is 0.8 FTE, aligned with the SCHADS Award, with a fixed-term 2-year contract, with prospects for transition to permanency. Flexible working arrangements and attractive salary packaging options (up to $15,900 tax-free per year) apply.
