We are a passionate team seeking proactive youth workers with a knack for connecting with young people, who will be able to deliver supports effectively in the youth crisis accommodation context. You will have a great ability to extend supports from a lens of trauma-informed care, have great boundaries, and be committed to delivering safe, high quality and empowering supports for our service users.

Essential Criteria

Essential:
-Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, or related community services field (Certificate IV with demonstrated experience minimum).
-Strong ability to actively engage young people with complex needs.
-Demonstrated ability to effectively respond to crisis situations.
-Demonstrated understanding of boundaries.
-Understanding of trauma-informed practice.
-Availability for sleepover shifts (shifts are generally from 4:30pm to 10:30pm, with an onsite sleepover and the shift re-commencing over 6:30am-8:30am).

Desirable Criteria

Desirable:
-Experience working in a residential accommodation environment.
-An understanding of youth homelessness and the service system.

Other Information

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS
-Current NSW Driver's License
-Clear Working with Children's Check and cleared National Criminal History Record check (or willingness to obtain these prior to commencement)

Detour House Inc is a not-for-profit organisation empowering women and girls (cis and trans) and gender non-binary people assigned female at birth through the delivery of trauma-informed safe places and tailored programs, to reduce the incidence of homelessness. We envision a future where all women and girls live safe, stable and fulfilling lives. We currently deliver two core services: Detour House, a residential alcohol and other drug treatment service, and The Girls Refuge, a crisis accommodation and support service for young people aged 13-17 experiencing homelessness and risk of homelessness.
