- Full time position. 38 hrs per week Rotating shifts of 8.30-5.00pm (9 day fortnight)
THE PROGRAM The Girls Refuge is a safe, home-like environment for teenage girls who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or going through a difficult time and whose families need some extra support. We also provide support in the community for girls and young women living independently or with their families. THE ROLE The full-time Case Manager role will focus on improving the quality of life for young people accessing services at The Girls Refuge (TGR) by providing quality case management to increases opportunities for clients’ education, employment, wellbeing and housing. The Case Manager will resolve crisis, promote empowerment, encourage healthy choices, promote reconnection with family, and develop relationships with organisations to improve client access to services. To better help our clients and their access to case management this role’s hours of work will operate between 8:30am-5:30pm Monday – Friday. TGR supports young people from various backgrounds so candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from CALD backgrounds.

Essential Criteria
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
- Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare, or related areas.
- Minimum two years’ experience in residential care or a similar role
- At least one year experience working with and supporting young people with complex backgrounds in a similar role.
- Knowledge and experience in the Specialist Homelessness Service sector.
- A demonstrated knowledge of the service system for Under 16’s experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Youth Services across the Inner West and Greater Sydney
- Experience with Youth Interagency Meetings
- Experience with CIMS
- Knowledge and experience working from a client centred and trauma informed approach.
- Knowledge in child and youth development, homelessness, safety planning and youth mental health.
- Experience in delivering case work support, with a minimum caseload of 12 clients (a mix or residential and outreach clients).
- An understanding of the culture and strengths-based practices.
- Demonstrated networking and advocacy skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in delivering groups or training to young people.
- Experience in managing situation of crisis with a risk-adverse approach.
- Ability to work out of hours and provide monthly on-call support.
Desirable Criteria
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA
- Minimum three years’ experience in residential care or a similar role.
- Trained facilitator in evidence-based youth group programs.
- Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment.

- Current NSW Driver’s License.
- Clear Working with Children and National Criminal History Record checks.
- Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate.
- First Aid Certificate.
