Position Title: Community support worker

Location: Lidcombe NSW

Employment basis: Part-time – 2  days per week. The position is a permanent position (subject to 3-month probation period)

Job description (roles & responsibilities)

  • Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Community support worker is responsible for:
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communication of the Centre, including handling incoming calls, mail, emails, and client drop-ins.
  • Maintain and update relevant data, records, and documentation to ensure accurate and timely reporting as required by the Centre and funding bodies
  • Recruit, induct, and supervise volunteers, providing guidance and support
  • Develop and coordinate new programs, activities, workshops, and information sessions and prepare reports as required
  • Collaborate closely with the Centre manager to organise, facilitate, monitor, and evaluate events and programs run by the Centre. Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance Centre practices.
  • Assist in managing marketing and promotions, including social media, display materials, and website content to promote the Centre's services and activities.
  • Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of client information is protected at all times, following relevant privacy laws and regulations.
  • Support the development of grant applications, project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder databases
  • Perform ad hoc duties as required by the General Manager

 

Essential selection criteria:

  • Hold a minimum Certificate III in Community Services or an equivalent qualification in related field
  • Bilingual proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Competent computer skills in client data entry and website management, including Proficiency in MS Office;
  • Demonstrated ability in assisting the General Manager for promotion of services in the Chinese community
  • Demonstrated ability in working independently or as a team

 

Desirable criteria:

  • Possession of a NSW driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle for work purpose
