The Role
Reporting to Director of Development and Operations and collaboratively across the team, you will be responsible for implementing membership projects and processes, maintaining ACOSS’s CRM system, providing support for ACOSS’s Policy and Advocacy work, and providing general administrative support to the ACOSS office.
This is a hands-on role within a small team where you will be responsible for a variety of functions which include:
- Undertake administration duties and other functions within membership processes, including but not limited to recruitment, retention and engagement
- Provide administrative support for ACOSS’ political and bureaucrat engagement and policy and advocacy work including but not limited to arranging meetings with parliamentarians and bureaucrats and ACOSS policy network engagement
- Develop, manage, maintain and administer ICT and CRM systems related to work area, including providing advice and internal training, and establishing key procedures
- Contribute insights and ideas to establish procedures within work areas and where procedures are not defined, further develops work methods
- Contribute to the operations of the ACOSS national office, including administrative support, reception duties and general administrative office support, as required
Skills Required
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the values of ACOSS and a developing understanding of its membership, advocacy, and political engagement work. You will have strong organisational and administrative and ICT and other technical skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and provide effective support across teams.
You will bring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage professionally with members, stakeholders, and external organisations. The role requires the ability to work independently with guidance, as well as collaboratively within a team. Experience in the not‑for‑profit or community sector, membership‑based organisations, or political offices is desirable, along with familiarity with CIVI CRM or Advoc8 and an awareness of issues affecting people experiencing poverty and disadvantage.

Title of Position: Membership & Political Engagement Administrator

Hours of work: 73.5 per fortnight
Location: Sydney, NSW
Salary: ACOSS Enterprise Agreement Level 3 Plus superannuation, leave loading and above award conditions. ACOSS pay tables are indexed annually at the greater of 1.5% or any increase to the SCHADS Award

Position Overview
The position works closely with the Director of Development and Operations, Chief Strategy Officer, and the policy leads responsible for parliamentary engagement management and policy management. This role is responsible for implementing membership projects and processes and maintaining ACOSS’s CRM system. The role also provides general support for ACOSS’s Policy and Advocacy work as well as providing general administrative support to the ACOSS office.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake administration duties and other functions within membership processes, including but not limited to recruitment, retention and engagement
- Provide administrative support requiring high levels of judgment, initiative, confidentiality and sensitivity for ACOSS’s policy and advocacy work. This includes, but is not limited to, organising and supporting meetings and engagement with parliamentarians and bureaucrats, and supporting ACOSS membership policy networks
- Manage, maintain and administer ICT and CRM systems related to work area, including providing advice and internal training
- Contribute insights and ideas to further develop, improve or update procedures within work area
- Contribute to the operations of the ACOSS national office, including reception duties, general administrative office support, and administrative support for executive staff, as required
- Undertake other duties as directed within the scope of this role
Selection Criteria (Skills, knowledge, and experience)
Essential
- A demonstrated commitment to the core values of ACOSS, and understanding of ACOSS’s functions, policies and activities
- Excellent ability to multi-task across teams, strong organisational skills, with experience in providing administrative support and project administration
- Strong written and oral communication
- Strong ICT and other technical skills including Microsoft Office suite and CRM databases
- A high level of interpersonal skills in dealing with the public and other organisations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to contribute to the success of the team
Desirable
- Experience working in the not-for-profit community sector and/or political offices
- Experience using CIVI CRM and Advoc8 CRM
- Experience working in a membership-based organisation
- Appreciation of the issues facing people who experience poverty and disadvantage
- Understanding of political landscape and ACOSS’ Impact Priority Areas
