The NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS) seeks an experienced Events Officer who supports and undertakes the planning and execution of major events/forums and related activities such as sponsorships to help NCOSS support and connect with the sector, raise NCOSS’s profile, build on an impressive legacy, and continue our work towards a fair, inclusive and resilient NSW where everyone is safe, respected, and able to thrive.
As NSW’s peak body for the community service sector, NCOSS represents 350 + members and a wider network of organisation and individuals who share our values. Our team of 20 works collaboratively to advocate for social justice and achieve NCOSS’s purpose to transform systems, eliminate poverty and create equity.
Reporting to the Director, Communications and Engagement, you’ll also work closely with the Sector and Community Engagement Officer, the Communications Officer, the Executive Support Officer, NCOSS Directors, the Policy and Advocacy team, the Operations team, and other key stakeholders.
You’ll be a great fit for the role if you have:
- Project Management: Delivery-focused with proven experience successfully managing end-to-end events with strong logistical and project management skills.
- Attention to Detail: Highly organised with proven experience of managing complex events or multiple events or projects with competing deadlines.
- Budget management: Experience in managing budgets and delivering events/projects on budget, resource allocation and managing external providers.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think of creative ways to host events that our members and sector stakeholders find beneficial as well as sponsorships aligned with NCOSS’s strategic plan.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Strong communication, problem solving, interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Digitally Savvy: Experience with platforms like Google Ads, Wordpress, Canva, Humanitix, and work management systems like Monday.com.
- Mission Alignment: Commitment to social justice, experience and knowledge of the social service sector, working with historically-marginalised communities, and an understanding of factors contributing to inequality and disadvantage.
- Core Values: Demonstrated commitment to NCOSS’s core values – courage, integrity, fairness and inclusion.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to support organisational priorities and willingness to contribute across different areas, and occasional work outside of normal work hours as needed.

What we offer
This a full-time permanent position (35 hours a week). The salary is $94.033 a year or $51.65 per hour + superannuation + leave loading + continuous service leave.
As a Public Benevolent Institution endorsed by the ATO as Fringe Benefit Tax Exempt, NCOSS also offers staff salary packaging.
NCOSS’ offices are located in the Paul Ramsay Foundation’s NFP hub at heritage listed Yirranma Place, on that part of Gadigal Country also now known as Darlinghurst. We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
