Mirrung is an innovative, place-based initiative in its third year of operation at Ashcroft Public School. The establishment of Mirrung has been  transformative for the Ashcroft Public School community.

The vision is that all children can reach their learning potential regardless of where they live, their cultural background or their socioeconomic status. To achieve this, Mirrung provides holistic support to children and their families, to meet educational, health and wellbeing needs.

The results have been remarkable. Three years after the establishment of Mirrung there have been improvements in student outcomes, family engagement and teacher wellbeing. The school has become a community where children and their carers feel safe, supported and encouraged to thrive.

Mirrung is no longer a description of a specific ‘wellbeing space’ in the school where students and parents can go for support; Mirrung now describes a whole-of-school culture.

This impact report, prepared by Social Outcomes, documents Mirrung’s achievements after three years of operation. Social Outcomes spoke to students, parents and teachers in focus groups, considered the results of bespoke surveys and examined administrative data.
