About the opportunity

As the Incident Manager, you will lead the response to critical incidents affecting students, ensuring they receive timely and effective support to enhance their academic and personal success. You will collaborate with the Critical Incident Liaison Officer and Student Wellbeing team to coordinate, monitor, and improve service delivery.

Critical incidents are often highly time sensitive, and this position is required to be available ‘on-call’ for after-hours emergency calls relating to critical incidents.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work within a highly collaborative team, reporting to the Manager, Wellbeing Services
  • lead the response to critical incidents, ensuring timely support that enhances students’ academic and personal success
  • act as the central contact for Wellbeing Services’ critical incident response, providing direct case management, including after-hours availability as needed
  • engage with internal and external stakeholders to proactively manage incidents, resolve issues, and provide crisis support and case management for complex student needs
  • contribute to wellbeing awareness initiatives, developing campaigns, training programs, and early intervention strategies based on data analysis and best practices
  • oversee risk identification and mitigation initiatives, ensuring adherence to protocols, standard operating procedures, and university strategies
  • maintain accurate data collection and reporting on incidents, supporting risk assessment and compliance with institutional requirements.

About you

  • a tertiary qualification in a relevant field and extensive experience working in a safety or support service role including managing serious or high-risk incidents and issues
  • proven experience in the critical incident field within similar organisations, possessing a strong knowledge of management of critical incidents affecting students
  • familiarity with the external regulatory environment, regulatory agencies, and related reporting requirements
  • strong problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise sound judgement in resolving critical incidents
  • high level communication skills and demonstrated ability to brief and liaise with senior stakeholders in time sensitive and complex matters.
