About us

The core mission of Anglicare (NSW South, West & ACT) is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for children, young people, and families. We mainly focus on serving vulnerable communities in the ACT and regional, rural NSW.

About the role

Anglicare is seeking dedicated professionals who share our mission. Step into a role where every day offers the chance to impact the future of our youth positively.

This role involves supervising, mentoring, and supporting children, young people and their families with varied needs across multiple settings and reports to the PSP Manager, PSP Coordinator or Senior Case Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver trauma-informed care using the Sanctuary Model and uphold Anglicare's Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Advocate for the needs of Aboriginal young people and extended families in care.
  • Supervise and support family time arrangements, ensuring safety and positivity.
  • Transport children and young people to various appointments.
  • Build caring relationships focused on developmental well-being, promoting health, self-esteem, and personal growth.
  • Provide therapeutic approaches under guidance and maintain comprehensive records in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
  • Engage actively with professional development opportunities.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

  • A Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services, or Childcare and a Diploma of Community Services, or obtaining one, is desirable.
  • Proven practical experience working with children, young people, and/or families in a community service setting.
  • Strong theoretical understanding of the needs of vulnerable individuals and families.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care.
  • Awareness of inter-generational trauma, especially among Aboriginal communities.
  • Deep understanding of child and adolescent development, especially regarding relational trauma and abuse.

Join a team dedicated to making a difference. If you are passionate about the welfare and development of young people and have the skills and experience outlined above, we want to hear from you.
