Budget 2017 - Impact investing and volunteering
Two articles in Pro Bono News look at issues that are of broad interest to the community sector: Commonwealth to Fund Social Impact Investing and Disappointment as Volunteering Sidelined in the Budget. The first notes that the Federal Government will partner with the states and territories and other stakeholders to trial social impact investing in improving housing and welfare for young people. The second raises concerns that the contribution volunteers make to the community has been disregarded. It was noted that recently there has been funding via volunteer grants but it "pales in comparison to the sustained investment that is required to ensure safe, effective and sustainable volunteering,”
