NFPs generally spend up to 70% of their operating budget on staffing but little is done to measure the effectiveness of their hiring decisions.  Ben Dattner, an organisational development consultant  in an article for Harvard Business Review recommends A Scorecard for Making Better Hiring Decisions whereby candidates are rated at the interview stage and then again at later intervals after they are employed.  This can help interviewers to improve their skills over time, as well as help to prevent unconscious biases, emotions and stereotypes from creeping into recruitment decisions.
