Exercising power in the community sector
Eric Meade and Daniel Doucette in Owning power in the social sector notes that many community sector organisations adopted internal processes reflecting the inclusion and collaboration they sought to create in the world. This changed in the 80s, 90s and into the 2000s, as more hierarchical structures developed with the pressure to corporatise. Today, there is a move to modify these structures, shifting power to staff in the communities they work in. This is a US article but equally relevant to NSW organisations.
