HILDA data shows growing gap between high and low earners
The annual Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey from the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, shows a growing wealth divide between generations. They found high poverty rates for single parent families with almost 20% lacking basic essentials. It also noted small businesses are employing fewer people who are more likely to be men, older people and trade workers, employed part time or casual, receiving lower wages.
