Vulnerable populations and extreme hot weather

The current hot weather we are experiencing in NSW might not be a heat wave but most years they have been an issue somewhere in the state and their impact on vulnerable communities remains a significant problem.  The question of who is likely to be vulnerable, what are effective responses and possible preventative measures are considerations for many within the Community Sector. 

The report Feeling the Heat: Heatwaves and social vulnerability in Victoria  published in 2013 by VCOSS remains timely and covers these issues in a way that is also relevant to NSW. You can also download a national framework for protecting human health and safety during extreme heat events.
