Small charities: may not be large but still have an impact
There are almost 19,00 charities with incomes under $50,00 per annum but when considered as a group, they had a combined income of more than $300 million in 2015, held assets worth more than $5 billion, and employed over 26,000 staff and 436,000 volunteers. The report, Australia’s Smallest Charities, was produced in collaboration with the Centre for Social Impact and the Social Policy Research Centre at the University of New South Wales for the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). It is a sub-report of the Australian Charities Report, released annually based on data collected from Annual Information Statement completed by all charities regulated by the ACNC.
