The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) has developed a set of practical resources for not-for-profits (NFPs) board members. AICD research has found that the complexity of NFP governance ie. having to achieve both mission success and financial strength, arguably results in stronger governance than in the for-profit sector.  However the research showed there are specific areas of concern. In response the AICD's NFP Resource Centre have developed free tools on financial sustainability, strategic planning and performance measurement.
