Innovation labs: What are they?

In Innovation Labs: 10 Defining Features, labs are defined as “a semi-autonomous organization that engages diverse participants—on a long-term basis—in open collaboration for the purpose of creating, elaborating, and prototyping radical solutions to pre-identified systemic challenges.” What characterises them can help ensure they reach their potential, understand their limits and better assess the social impact that can come out of them.
