Victoria, like NSW is reforming its heath and community sector.  In Kym Peake: leading reform in the health and human services sector Peake notes the importance of strong social networks, jobs, income and having a purpose in life to help keep people well , to live longer, healthier lives and avoid chronic disease. In terms of policy this has led to an emphasis on prevention and integration and also helped define the 4 key reform priorities:  Person centred services; Local solutions; Earlier and more connected support; and, Advancing quality, safety and innovation.
